Who is Trees for Life?
We are a small group of people in Wichita, Kansas who have come together to serve. In our service we demonstrate that when a small group of people can lock their mind in unity -- miracles happen. Trees for Life is a non-profit organization that does not give hand-outs -- we serve the poor around the world where they do things for themselves.

What is an Alternative Gift?
Put simply, an "alternative" gift is a unique and impactful way of giving gifts to friends, loved ones, colleagues, or really -- anyone! Instead of buying another book, CD, tie, or scarf for a loved one who "has everything" -- you can instead give in his or her name a gift that will directly contribute to helping families out of crushing poverty and towards a new life of hope and empowerment.
How does this work?
It's simple! You purchase a gift for a friend or loved one, your money is used by Trees for Life to directly alleviate poverty for families in around the world, and your friend or loved one is notified of the gift you made in their honor.
How will my gift be used?
Every item described in this Gift from the Heart Catalog represents an item that is budgeted for, purchased, and used in village development projects throughout the world. However, Trees for Life does not track individual gifts from purchase to distribution because it would require valuable resources that we believe should be put to work in the villages instead. All gift purchases from this catalog are combined together and used to help fund the self-help development process for families and communities. Your gift is tax deductible, supports the entire mission of Trees for Life, and will be used to help families move from poverty to a sustainable life of hope!
How will my friends and/or loved ones be notified about the gifts I purchased in their names?
You get to choose! You can notify gift recipients by email, or you can print your gift card and mail it yourself, or you can ask Trees for Life to mail a gift card directly to you.

Are the gifts I purchase tax-deductible?
Contributions to Trees for Life International, a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, are deductible. For computing income and estate taxes -- please consult your Accountant.
