What Happened as a Result

With Trees for Life's help, the following projects have taken roots in Tisma and adjoining areas:

  • The citizens have taken upon themselves to plant 20,000 trees.
  • They have provided 50 fuel-efficient stoves to poor people.
  • The ladies of Tisma started a preschool for the poorest of the poor children.
  • More than 75 little children are getting education that they would otherwise not get.
  • A community children's library was established in Tisma, followed by eight other such libraries in nearby villages.
  • The farmers are negotiating with a United States grocery chain that caters to Spanish clientele to provide vegetables for them.
