St. Peter Catholic School helping students in Tisma, Nicaragua

…and yet, the children of those who grow that coffee do not have any books.
It’s true. More than two million children in Nicaragua go to school without any textbooks.
Imagine. Studying science or math, art or languages without a textbook.
We, the students of St. Peter School, refuse to let this continue.
This lack of books is creating a vicious cycle of illiteracy and poverty that is crippling a generation.
We can’t provide books to every student in Nicaragua. But we can help one school in one town. And that’s what we aim to do—for the town of Tisma.
Books for students to share
There are 1,300 students in Tisma. They need textbooks on science, math, chemistry, social science, language, literature and other subjects. We want to provide 800 textbooks covering 10 subjects.
Each book will be shared by eight to ten students and will benefit students for many years to come.
Partnership--not giveaway
This isn’t a giveaway program. People in Tisma will raise 25% of the cost of these books. That’s a big sacrifice for this poor community. But they want to invest in their children’s future and show their gratitude to those who are helping.
We’re not looking for a ton of money.
These 800 books will cost $4,000. We want to raise $3,000. The balance will be raised by the people of Tisma.
$100 will help provide two sets
of books – 20 books
$50 will help provide a set of 10 books.
$5 will help provide one book.
If everyone chips in a little, we’ll easily meet our goal.
Can you help?
Can you partner with us to provide one or two sets of books? Maybe even just one book? Any amount you can give will help transform a school, a community – perhaps even a country.
Thank you for partnering with us to help our friends
in Nicaragua.
